More information

Different to sports massage, treatment is carried out slowly throughout, starting superficially and working deep, using long gliding strokes and slow stretching techniques, to work into the muscles and tissues, which makes it deeply relaxing.

Its purpose is to help un-stick or unblock fibres of the muscles, whilst working to release deeply-held patterns of tension; it helps to remove build up of waste products and is also very relaxing and soothing. Techniques used of slower strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, following the direction of, or working across the fibres of the muscles, tendons and fascia. This is both a corrective and therapeutic treatment.

Deep Tissue Massage feels great and can be directly beneficial to your health. When muscles and tissues are stressed, they can block efficient delivery of nerve signals, oxygen and nutrients, cause pain and inflammation which can then lead to imbalance in the body. A deep tissue massage helps loosen tight or thick muscle tissues, release waste products from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly, helping to improve body systems. It’s important to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage to help the body’s healing process.
